Breakpoint Coffee Company
3/6/2012~ Today I was in the mood to have a very good lunch and coffee. One place in particular stood out ~ Breakpoint Coffee Co. I was "sort of" in the area (not really but trying to justify driving out of my way) so I stopped in. It is located just north of downtown Salem.
I use to frequent their restaurant / coffee shop quite often as I was always going by on the way to my sons daycare. Now that he is in school, I don't get to sample their offerings very often.
Break Point is more then just a coffee shop. They have a large offering of Sandwiches, Panini, Salads, Soups, Bagels, Donuts, Muffins, Cookies, Cakes, and probably many other things I missed. They also have a drive through window and deliver to local businesses for lunch.
Today, everything was just as I remembered it. Bright, cheery atmosphere which is well decorated with lots of flare!
I was greeted with a smile by the barista as I walked through the door. One of the owners, named Dottie, also smile and said "Hi." She is in there often and always takes the time to acknowledge you. I believe she genuinely appreciates your business and wants you to feel welcomed. So many businesses forget this simple philosophy to make your customers feel appreciated. She sure understands it!
I ordered a non fat mocha and half of a "Break Point Club." The Sandwich is a great value at only $4.95 and comes which chips and a pickle on the side.
The coffee came out very flavorful and well made. Just the right amount of chocolate for me. Most places tend to drown the drinks in chocolate which I do not like. I prefer to be able to taste the coffee (if it is good coffee) which I defiantly could in this drink. I sat down at one of the comfortable tables and noticed the extra work they put into a little floral arrangement in a vase sitting in the middle. It was a cloudy and rainy day so the extra effort to add some bright and cheery decor was appreciated!
The barista brought the sandwich to my table and apologized for the wait. This was surprising to me because I thought she made if very quickly. It was served on a plate that was so bight all I could picture was the sun! A welcome thought on this cloudy day. Every detail in the restaurant is of such a cheerful nature it's no wonder the staff is always so happy. The sandwich was huge for just a half order with the meat, cheese, and other stuff stacked so high I could barely get my mouth around it! I had ordered it with their "special sauce" as well which is very tasty and it was every bit as good as I remembered.
After I finished my sandwich I snapped a few pictures and noticed their large selection of delicious looking cakes. I had been at Break Point many times and never really thought about them as a dessert place as well. I don't need to eat a lot of dessert but if (or should say "when") I'm in the need of a chocolate cake fix I'll be sure and come back to check it out.
