Had to make the drive across Salem today so decided to take the opportunity to stop at Sandwich Express for lunch. It is located off of Mission St. on 23rd.
Because it was their lunchtime rush it was very busy when I arrived. This worried me considerably because I had never ate there when it was so busy. Even though they have lots of seating I even had to wait a couple minutes for a table to open up. To my pleasant surprise, the food arrived quickly, warm, and just as tasty as always! The restaurant was also very clean looking for how busy they were and workers were going around cleaning tables as they became available.
I purchase the roast beef, turkey, and ham sandwich on the honey wheat bread. Even though I really didn't need the fries, I ordered my lunch in the "Box Car Combo" for $2.50 more. I have a weakness for their beer battered fries which for me are the best fries around. Diet will have to start another day!
As I stated above, the food arrived very quickly. I'm always impressed how soft the bread is and how fresh everything tasted, including the lettuce which I am sometimes picky about.
I saw they offer breakfast sandwiches which sound very tasty. I will have to try them out sometime but usually not in that part of town early in the AM. Let me know if you have tried them?
